We are looking for an experienced, talented and user-centric front-end designer to grow our Product Design Team.
The position:
As our new front-end designer, you’ll help drive efforts to design a best-in-class user experience across multiple digital platforms. You’ll work to solidify our design principles, and you’ll help shape and grow the creative capabilities of the design team. You’ll be working in a fast paced, creative and dedicated team and report to the Head of Design. Your primary responsibilities will be the following:
Making amazing visual front-end designs of all sorts together with our digital designers
Leading the interaction design process in several projects, in close collaboration with product managers
Working collaboratively and structured in a multi-disciplinary team in an agile environment.
Translating visual designers work to code with high degree of visual and efficient accuracy.
Skills and background:
You take ownership of your projects and work independently while also being a team player who loves working to reach common goals. You have a pragmatic approach to your work, always focusing on the end product, rather than opinions and politics. You are a doer who is not afraid of rolling up your sleeves because getting the job done is more important than your own ego. You like to work in an agile environment where priorities and tasks can change very quickly and you might have to redo the same thing over and over. You’re not a design snob, and you see working closely with all sorts of developers as a gift, not a challenge. You are also a good communicator and love working with stakeholder of all kinds, from all branches of a company. You also:
Are preferably a graduate from a design school, an IT university or have a similar relevant background
Have 5+ years of experience working with front-end design within a creative or a digital environment
Advanced experience with hand-writing accessible semantic, efficient, lightweight HTML/CSS.
Understanding of typography, colour theory and layout, and style guides.
Understanding the value of UX and user (customer) behaviour.
Advanced experience with creating cross-device responsive solutions.
Experience with webtech e.g. TS/JS, NodeJS, Gulp, PostCSS, Git.
Keep current with new web technologies and innovations.
Experience within Adobe Creative Suite and/or other visual design programs(Sketch).
Bonus skills that would make us happy:
Proficient experience with web accessibility.
Proficient experience in visual design (good eye for aesthetics).
Experience with motion design, SVG and its optimization on the web.
Familiar with project management tools such as JIRA.
A portfolio or examples of related work (git, markup, design).
Positive and curious.
Not afraid to let his/her voice be heard even in expert forums.
Not afraid to ask for help or give constructive critique.
Interested in spending energy and time on the team as well as company culture.
Our team and environment:
Our design team, like our general organization, is driven by a strong wish for improving ourselves, both on a skill level as designers and on the personal level as people.
We strive to create an environment of constructive feedback, where everyone works towards improving our team’s skills and dynamics, with a strong mix of passion, honesty and comradery.
We get the job done as a team and we don’t like having office politics and personal opinions get in the way of good ideas. We’re not design snobs, but encourage everyone in the organization to review our work and give us their insights.
We work in an agile environment, with designers working in both individual agile product teams with UX, development and QA team mates, as well as in a broader design team which spans across all product teams.
Our organization has a strong wish to be driven by design. As a designer, you get to take a front seat in all product ideation and development, and leave your clear mark on where we are going.
We are:
momondo is a leading travel price comparison and travel inspiration site built on a rare blend of humanity and technology.
The ambition was, and still is, to create a global brand – not merely a functionality like most competitors, but a bold and colourful travel universe to inspire people to travel; to lower their guard, cross borders and open their minds. Ultimately, we believe that travelling is a way of breaking down boundaries between people, and we want to help facilitate this through complete price transparency across the market and by creating products people love to use.
You’ll join around 200 people from over 33 different countries in our office on Amagertorv, in downtown Copenhagen. We’re an enthusiastic and social bunch. We each have our quirks and character traits, we’re all passionate about our work, and we all take great pride in what we do.
