Junior Frontend Designer

We are looking for a talented and user-centric frontend designer to grow our Product Design Team. As our new Junior Frontend Designer, you’ll help drive efforts to design a best-in-class user experience across multiple digital platforms. You’ll work to solidify our design principles, and help shape and grow the creative capabilities of our Design Team. You’ll be working in a fast paced, creative and dedicated team and report to the Frontend Design Lead. Responsibilities: Your primary responsibilities will be creating amazing frontend designs together with our digital designers, and being a major part of the interaction design process in multiple projects. Our core values have a strong emphasis on great design and UX, so experience with customer facing web design and development is a big plus. You'll be working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team in an agile environment and you shouldn’t be afraid of rolling up your sleeves, leaving your ego behind and working together with your team in order to get things done. We work in an agile environment, with designers working in both individual agile product teams with UX, development and QA teammates, as well as in a broader design team which spans across all product teams. Our organisation has a strong wish to be driven by design. As a designer, you get to take a front seat in all product ideation and development, and leave your clear mark on where we are going. Skills and background: Ideally, you’ll be a graduate from a design school, an IT university or have a similar relevant background, and have about two years of experience working with frontend design within a creative or a digital environment. You should also have: • Experience with handwriting accessible, semantic and lightweight HTML • Experience with CSS and preprocessors such as LESS/SCSS/PostCSS • Experience with creating cross-device responsive designs • An understanding of Javascript (Typescript, Nodejs, Gulp) • An understanding of version control (Git) • An understanding of typography, colour theory and layout, and style guides • An understanding of the value of UX and user behaviour • The urge to stay up-to-date with new web technologies and innovations • Experience with Sketch and other visual design programs (Adobe Creative Suite) Nice to haves are: • Proficient experience in visual design (good eye for aesthetics) • Experience with web accessibility • Experience with motion design using SVG, CSS, Canvas • Experience with prototyping tools (Principle, FramerJS, InVision, Marvel etc.) • Experience with web performance optimisation • Familiarity of project management tools such as JIRA We are: momondo is a free, independent and inspirational global travel search site comparing billions of cheap flights, hotels and car hire deals.
